[/img] LINKI'm from Minnesota, but I have loved trying some of the Southern recipes on TD. I had never tried jambalaya in my life until the next year or so. I thought it was time to share a Midwest recipe for Chicago Italian Beef Sangwich's (as pronounced in the Windy City, sammich in the South).
First the Hot Italian Giardiniera
LINK

I used a three pound chuck roast and used this recipe. I put some slivers of garlic in the slits of the roast.

[/img]
I sliced it as thin as possible and an electric knife worked best.
I bought Italian bread, but would get a smaller thinner loaf next time.

Finished sangwich with Giardiniera.

You can spoon on some of the au jus or dunk the whole sangwich in it if you like it "wet."
PS-the two pics of the roast beef are in the wrong order.

Just like Portillos. Maybe my favorite fast food place in the world.

Nice

Dog, look up Pioneer Woman's recipe. She's got two, actually. I combine them because one has onions, I think, and one doesn't. I use the onions from the second recipe in the one with the Tevuto's (sp?) seasoning. We made the sandwiches for the AL game this past year and they were well received. Good stuff. I gave some bags of the unsalted seasoning as gifts with the recipe and I'll probably give it to some other office folks for Christmas this year. I actually have both the salted and unsalted bags and I mix the two to keep the sodium down, but get the flavor. The salted bag tastes better for some reason. I think it's a little different than the unsalted in herbs. It's not the salt that makes it taste better. It's some other flavors.

You can get one of these sandwiches at Chicago Al's on O'Neal.

I am always amazed by how many people from other schools fanbases come to this chat room as a whole, but the F&D board in particular. The pics look good.

If you look carefully, you'll see they aren't Christmas plates, they're snowman/winter plates. Remember I said I was from Minnesota? Our snow finally went away last week.

It's probably because there aren't many message boards like this anywhere. Food always brings people together from all walks of life.
I love being able to post about random things on the OT, discuss sports on the More Sports Board, peruse the Outdoor Board, visit the Auburn Board, and also learn about food and drink-all on one website.
