I bought Stone Sublimely and Brooklyn Sorachi Ace from Calandros the day after the Arkansas game. They had Brooklyn 1 and 2 as well.

Oh, I'm either going to drink a Unibrau Maudite or the Sorachi.

I'm probably going to swing by Calandro's this evening. Will report back on anything interesting in stock.

You try the 3 founteinen oude geuze yet? I thought it was great but would enjoy a tamer version of it much more. Very acidic/tart.

tetu,

I've seen you talking about the Geuze...any good recommendations? I've been looking around by can't find any? Might need to look in Laffy or Beaumont.

Bell's Porter. Good thing I have a runner picking more up in a couple of weeks-just about out of the Bell's.

Talked to Tim at Matherne's about the SN Celebration Ale today-their distributor saw that the SN summer seasonal didn't sell in BR very well and arbitrarily cut back on the BR order for the Celebration. They dropped 10 cases off at Calandro's but Tim ended up getting 3 of them(gone in a couple of days), and he had heard that one buyer bought all 7 cases that he didn't get. Wonder if some dive bar in town has those in their cooler.

That sounds great. I have only had one Bell's beer-the 2 Hearted Ale-thanks to tetu, and I am sold. I wish we could get it here. The 2 Hearted Ale had so much flavor and complexity in a relatively light bodied beer. It was awesome.

Kim-I'll meet you in Matherne's after Christmas and share some from my runner that is bringing back a car trunk full of assorted Bell's and Goose Island. Tim wants a little sampler, be glad to share since we are usually buying the same stuff at the same place. The best Bell's I have had so far is the Oarsman Ale-IMO, puts the Two-Hearted to shame, and that's a good beer.

I really can't rate beer anymore. I tried to do that in a thread the other day and soon I was done people started listing a ton that I wish I would have. I guess that is one damn good problem to have though.

And definitely take Icanseeformiles on his offer. Bells and Goose are some of the best beers.

ETA: I went with the Sorachi...I swear to god, I love this beer.

No I haven't had it yet. I didn't care for that other one I had in that group the other day so I hope this one is a whole lot better. Saving them for this week. Going on a nice long hunting trip.

Yes, I understand! Not as easy as it used to be. There are so many great beers out there.

Honestly, save it for a really warm day. I had it my first time at the end of August and it was perfect. Definitely a warm weather beer but it was so good I couldn't resist when I saw it again.

Lindemans Gueuze Cuvee Rene has been available around BR and Nola lately. GOod starter since it's not overly soured. Best beer I've had from them by far.

Cantillon Classic Gueuze is one of the best I've ever had. I've never seen it in la outside of nola though. Avenue put has it pretty much all the time, and some of the beer stores have it every now and then.

Tiliquin Gueuze has just made it to louisiana. Not sure if any has made it to BR or anywhere else in LA yet though. Haven't tried it myself yet.

Other sours: 1807 Berliner Weisse (great beer in the summer, tart, light, and refreshing). Jolly Pumpking beers are all sours. I especially like the sour stout they make. Petrus Aged Pale is very good and very sour. Petrus Oude Bruin is very good and a great for someone just starting out with sours. When in texas look for New Belgium Lips of Faith series, it has some good ones like La Folie, Le Terroir (both on the more sour end), and Transatlantique Kriek along with specials.

You could go for duchess de bourgogne or vichtenaar. They're kind of sour or tart but they are very sweet.

I know that was alot of info, but goodluck.

Finn's was great. It's always fun irl'ing people. He bought me a round and pointed me towards another neighborhood bar.

Edit: I don't know how it ended up in the middle of the post...

This will be my first dive into sours so you definitely gave me a great list. I'll be working hard to find a few. Thanks!

I went to Calandro's and Matherne's last night. Not from BR, so I stocked up on some beers. Got a Saint Arnold's Sailing Santa, Missing Elf, Pickled Santa, Sam Adams winter pack (wanted to try the coffee brew), Stone Levitation Ale, Mikkeller Jackie Brown, Rogue Yellow Snow, Rasputin Russian Imperial, Magic Hat, Tin Roof (never had it, was curious) Shiner Christmas, and Anchor Christmas.

Monk's Cafe is another one similar to vichtenaar and duchess. Of the 3, I'd go with duchesse. These are pretty common around the state. You should be able to find these the easiest to find and less expensive.
