It was good. I kinda wish I had an Oreo Hornswoggler to compare.

Damn I don’t miss those Chicago winters

My first visit there was in the fall. It was on my list of next places to live when I get tired of New England. So damn perfect.

My next was in the winter.

frick. That. Chicago winter is a billion times worse. New England is very tolerable. Chicago is on some bulllllshit.

I say this with full confidence, Chicago is the greatest city in this entire country from may through October. It's legit unreal.

No longer my scene, but we'd be on the beach playing volleyball and partying whilst this...

(Chicago scene...i mean, if you are a young professional how is this not nirvana?)

I will absolutely move south before i consider moving to Wilmette, and paying 700k for a house in that sleepy boring arse burb with two bars, and rarely coming to the city to enjoy what it has to offer. What you get in other great, warm, American cities is just too much to resist.

So, toof,i totally agree with you.

I am in Portland, not Jacksonville.

PNW weather is great, IMO. Summers are warm and dry. Winters are cool (not cold), and wet. Hoodie weather with layers all winter. You really only need winter jacket when you hit the mountains. We still have more dry weather than wet weather in the winter, although sometimes it doesn't feel that way, compared to summer.

I lived in CHI for 10 years before finally heading back south. You are absolutely correct with Chicago being the best city for those 6 months but the winters got too much. I miss the hell out of Chicago but it’s much better to go back and visit a few times a year than enduring the winters. I’m coming back for the Dead & Co at Wrigley in June and cannot phucking wait.

I lived in Lincoln Park, Wrigley and West Loop. We had a daughter and was spending $500/week on daycare and paying $2800 for rent. That also was a reason to leave.
