I hope yours went better than mine. My legs were protesting from the start I think that I ran my 8 miler last night too hard

How do y'all suggest most effectively increasing distances besides just gutting it out? I jog often (3-4 times a week) but never do much more than 5-6 miles.

It just takes time. Are you looking to run a half or marathon? A typical training plan for either of those distances will give you a pretty good road map for increasing your mileage. In general, run one or two shorter faster runs during the week and a mid-distance run on Wednesday and then run a longer run on Saturday.

It went really well actually. I was worried because I did not run any during the week due to being out of town and work. My legs were a bit sluggish in the beginning, but I quickly found my groove.

SBD: JK Wytchmaker Rye IPA

this is good. the last couple of JK brews I've had, I've been a bit disappointed, but this one is good
