No, we had a car. Did rent bikes to ride around Ghent and Brussels though. From Google:
quote:
Train + Bus (The Direct Route)
Step 1: Train to Godinne. Godinne is the closest railway station to the abbey on the Belgian rail network (NMBS/SNCB). You can catch direct InterCity (IC) trains to Godinne from major hubs like Brussels or Namur.
Step 2: Bus to Maredsous. From Godinne station, walk to the bus stop and take TEC Bus 21 directly to the Maredsous Abbaye stop. The bus ride takes roughly 15 to 20 minutes.2.
The Railbike Alternative (The Fun Route)If you want to make a day of it, you can take the train to Yvoir or Warnant, and ride one of the Les Draisines de la Molignée (Molignée Railbikes) along the old railway directly to the Abbey. It’s a highly rated, family-friendly pedal car experience that drops you off right at the Abbey grounds.
Travel TipsFrom Brussels: Total transit time usually takes about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on connections.Schedules: TEC bus routes in the Namur region generally operate on scheduled daytime intervals, and railbike bookings often have preset departure times.
