In the Denver area we have 2-4 breweries opening a month, it can't keep going at that pace and is going to have to have contraction. And if a recession hits a lot of these guys are done. I've been drinking craft for almost 20 yrs and I am starting to look for value now. Will I ever say F it and chose to drink a light lager? I doubt it but I have had enough of the $15 6 packs and $8 12oz bottles. I know several others in my shoes that are burned out. $10 6 packs seem outrageous to me even though I buy em for now. If I could find a good beer in the $7 a sixer range I'd be all over it. I keep waiting for someone to step in and fill that void of value and taste. Craft will always be around but it can't keep going like it is now. I was surprised to hear him call it a fad but he was enthralled with the margins they get.
Ryno, I am a production specialist for Coors. I oversee the bottling line right now. Making sure it stays up and running and QCing the product that goes through it and it produces such as glue on labels and what not.

Interesting. Have you always been working in the beer industry? I assumed you were in some kind of sales.
I agree the amount of new craft startups won't stand in the long run in virtually every market. The strong will survive but the craft industry is now mainstream and the ones who do it right and smart and in the right markets will still thrive

Just started Monday. I have an engineering degree from LSU and have always been on the drilling side of oil and gas.
Guys like Great Divide, Avery, Stone, Bells, Founders and the like aren't going anywhere and will always be here. They brew enough beer that they could adjust their prices if needed and still make money. I think he was speaking to all the start ups that have to charge these(ridiculous to me) prices just to make ends meet. There are several places here in town that charge over $20 for a growler fill of their normal beers, that is insane.

Yes I think there are way too many people starting breweries in most markets without solid business sense.

Looks like my NC friend is getting a 3 pack. I'll toss a BCBS in there, frick it. Figured I needed to try Batch 5 before trading it. It's pretty damn strong. I like B4 better. Sorry. The juicy.

Me too. I prefer Bomb!, but a great beer. Great.
A friend of mine tasted Bomb! tonight and said it tasted like tobacco spit. Then she described the rest of the taste -- pretty sure it was either infected or some filthy arse taplines. I felt so bad for her.

I don't see how. What's your issue with Bomb!? Is it the pepper? I find that the pepper is definitely muted in BB.

The Bible Belt definitely had some pepper also. It doesn't dominate like in the Bomb!, but it is certainly present.

Yes the couple I have had were fairly distinct pepper flavor in the finish that ruined it for me... the chilies in the bible belt are really muted. The vanilla and cocoa stand out up front.
