Results from yesterday's Brewpub Crawl with 4Miles, Rouge, and LSUintheNW. We ended up going to Breakside, Bridgeport, 10 Barrel, Fathead's, Deschutes, Ex Novo (breifly), Widmer Bros, Culmination, Hair of the Dog, and Base Camp.
Every single one was excellent in some way. We visited Bridgeport and Widmer brothers to pay homage to some of pioneers in the brewing industry. Breakside is the newest brewery in Portland, having just opened a few weeks ago.
Breweries ranged from shiny, hip, and new (Breakside and 10 Barrel), to older and comfortable (Hair of the Dog and Culmination), to classy and sophisticated (Bridgeport and Deschutes).
Some of the notable beers we had were Something Wicked and Go West IPA from Breakside, Brandy Abyss from Deschutes, Double Mosaic from 10 Barrel, Flanders Fred from Hair of the Dog, Momentary Lapse of Reason DIPA and Peche from Culmination, IBUsive and Four Hundo IPAs from Fathead's, and Block 15's Breakfast with Woodford, shared while entertaining each other in LSUintheNW's car.
I know I'm missing some.
Best beer: Breakside Brewing - very wide range of beers and all excellent
Best Atmosphere: 10 Barrel - Great vibe, beautiful women everywhere
Best spot to hangout with friends: Culmination Brewing - friendly, and their beer is excellent
Best Appetizer: The pretzel at Breakside, with honorable mention to the candy bacon at Culmination and Nachos at Widmer Bros.
Coolest hangout: Base Camp Brewing - unfortunately, the fire pits were not turned on, so we couldn't make s'mores
Best individual beer: Block 15 Breakfast with Woodford. Soooo damn smooth and tasty. Honorable mention: Brandy The Abyss and Something Wicked
