Very good beer, but almost too smooth, no?

I'm still downing them waiting for dinner, but the DIPA alcohol and smooth subterfuge are too much.

FBD - crooked stave makes some really tasty and unique brews, but what the frick is up with their prices. This pint was 8 bucks. That's crazy to me

How is Mexican Cake? Never had it, but it just sounds incredible. I think I might try to trade for one.

Ever since I had Reve I've been craving to try more stouts with a huge coffee flavor like that one. Anybody got any suggestions?

This years Mexican Cake was superb, IMO. I hate to sound like a beer-douche but there are so many layers to the beer. I swear, each individual flavor seems to come in waves and it changes as it warms. Nothing is wasted. I tasted everything that was mentioned in the description (cinnamon, cocoa, vanilla, habenero peppers, coffee, etc)

If you are craving a good, strong stout I don't think you can go wrong with it

That sounds awesome, and you're amougnst like minded beer nerds here, no ones going to call you a douche for suggesting a big beer has layers, that's what we're all out there looking for!

I'm not sure what's out there that is similar to Mexican Cake. I mean, I'm sure there are plenty, but none of the top of my head with that much going on.

Reddit appears to be flooded with people looking for and trading it right now. So might not hurt to look there. I would happily grab a couple for the posters here, but my store had a 1 bottle per limit and it was gone within 45 minutes of stocking, I'd say

Well they have Mexican Cake Four Rose Barrel, Tequila Barrel, Red Wine, Mexican Coffe Cake those are the ones I've seen on trade groups. Some may be older.

Is hunupa a coffee variety? What about the Xcovera from Stone?

shite, I am definitely going to try to trade for one now.

Like td mentioned, there are multiple variations. Cognac, Tequila, bourbon, coffee, etc. Really want to try the coffee cake version as well as the regular one.

Had to do a work function after the 5th inning and had the game won by the time I had a chance to check online.

Something told me not to crack the seal on the 4-pack last night.

GHO Tigers!
