What was the place across from Cortana mall? The Village or The Villager? Something like that.

I can't say it was my favorite, but I remember going to Shoney's when I was a kid. Anyone else fond of this creation when they were little?

I'm STILL fond of it. I go into a Shoney's for that Hot Fudge Cake anytime I see one.

When I lived in Houston, went to the one by Reliant Stadium once or twice a month. On the road there's one at the Jennings exit off I-10 and off I-65 on the way to Atlanta. Are the ones in Metairie still there?

Also, make the HFC at home and when I don't feel like making devils food cake, I substitute ice cream sandwiches covered in hot fudge.

As for childhood restaurants, Tony Pedone's and Porky's in Covington, Picadilly Cafeteria in BR at Bon Marche, Morrison's Cafeteria in downtown New Orleans, Martin Brothers in East New Orleans right next to the Industrial Canal, Friendship House in Biloxi, Captain Anderson's and Angelo's in Panama City. (Still go to these since I'm right down the road)
