Estate Sale find - Hog Splitter Cleaver

Found this today at an estate sale for $1.
Foster Bros cleaver.
This thing is built like a brick shithouse. It is solid.
It was all rusty and nasty when I found it. I’ve cleaned it up, just need to sharpen it now. I may get a new handle made for it.

Pretty cool. After Christopher Kimball went to Asia, he became a big supporter of using cleavers in the kitchen. Not just hacking up chickens, but also vegetable work.

no where near as cool as the one you found but I have given quite a few of these away as Christmas presents. I know a few ole boys who own one that has been sharpened down alot and still their go to camp knife.
