I'm probably more excited about this than I should be, the non-profit organization that puts on Downtown Alive, Artwalk, etc. is putting on a Chicken Sandwich competition as a fundraiser between this Friday, June 5th and ending July 4th. They've put together 15 downtown restaurants(listed below) that'll have a chicken sandwich offering and will give out awards for the crowd favorite, best seller with online voting.

Luna
I'm guessing they're close since they're involved, I had forgotten about them but walked by about a month ago and they looked pretty close to being done.

Handy Stop
Opened a couple weeks ago, we ordered a pizza from Central the other day and stopped in to check it out. They have a nice assortment of groceries that'll be convenient if you live close by downtown and maybe need something quick. They also have a deli counter that does hot/cold food, I think he said they'll do plate lunches, poboys, etc.

Are places that already have chicken sandwiches going to do something different, or are we supposed to judge the ones they already have?
Anyway, I look forward to trying a few. If Pop’s has something different I may try it tomorrow for lunch.

I am looking forward to Wing Fingers’ contribution but I will agree, anything Pop’s does is sublime.

I'm assuming their contribution will be their Chain Killer, they posted an update last week that they intended to be setup at the Wurst by today but would only be selling the Chain Killer for now. Then updated last night saying that it'll likely be next week before they're good to go. That sandwich isn't the most visibly appealing one posted but it's pretty damn good.

I ate the franchise killer at Wing Fingers several times and it is absolutely legit.

I'd imagine they'll do their Pluto or Fires of Pluto sandwich. It's okay. I like going to Luna, but the food IMO is forever average.

Or maybe they won’t, passed by this morning and they haven’t made anymore progress since before the shutdown it looks like.
