Following. Hitting the Mothership Tuesday & Wednesday.
Kemuri-Tatsu-Ya was awesome - Japanese / Texas BBQ fusion. The DIY brisket sushi was great.
Wu Chow - Chinese
Red Ash
KG Bbq - Egyption / BBQ fusion. Not exactly downtown but worth a short trip. It's a food truck outside a bar / brewery.

Has anyone been there? What is the setup like? I have tickets to the 10pm show sat night. Can we go at 9 and hang out at the bar?
Can we hang out after at mitzis?
I've been twice. You want to get there 30 min to 1 hour before the show time. They usually open the doors around 30 min before and start seating. You line up at Trinity and 6th (make sure you are in the right line), and they have staff there that'll give you a wristband, then you'll go inside, put your phone in the Yondr pouch, and someone will seat you. You don't get to pick with GA seating, but if you get there at least 30 min before the door opens, you should get decent seats close to the front. It's a small venue, so there's not really a bad seat.
You may be able to hang at Mitzi's before the show if you just wanna grab a couple drinks at 9, then get to the line before 9:30. I haven't been in Mitzi's yet so I'm not 100% sure, but give it a shot. I'm also not sure how late the bar is open. The only thing I found was 11pm, which would be before your show ends. But try to go in after your show and report back.
Have fun. THe club is fantastic.

Loro on Lamar is good and kinda unique, but is more of a HH type drinking and eating place than higher end dinner.

That’s a good one. Uchi + Franklin bbq fusion. Casual with great flavors. Way under $100/person.

Saw a place in the news today in the old Seaholm power station called Ember - everything is cooked over fire (Spanish technique) and has a cool basement bar. Reservation definitely required for restaurant.

Added to my list.
Hestia is nearby and similar. Very good but fancier and getting into the pricey range.

J carvers is fantastic but might be tough to stay under $100/person

Update in the op.
Also 6th Street is the only time I didn't feel safe. Absolutely a shite hole. Homeless crazies and up to no good kids. Felt like bourbon street on a sat night at midnight. But more people.

Nice to hear you had a good time.
I went to Comedy Mothership on Monday for Kill Tony. It was fantastic!
My buddy and I walked around a bit after the show and yeah, I felt kinda unsafe on 6th, which is disappointing. I never felt that way several years back.

All Kill Tony shows are on youtube if you wan to check them out. This one would be good to start with.
But the premise of the show is that there is a host (Tony Hinchecliff) and soundboard guy (Brian Redban), and they invite one (or more) comedians to join them for the show's panel. People put their name in a bucket to do a minute of standup if their name gets pulled, then the panel interviews them after their minute. It's a good weekly show, and even better in person.
