Easily Dons..

I generally stop at both places since I love the smoked boudin at Best Stop. But the cracklins are almost always not fresh at Best stop and hard.. They are great if they are fresh but Dons always seems to have fresh crackins.

When Best Stop are right out the fryer they are great but like I said this is a rare and even so they are about the same as Dons. I dont recall a visit to Dons where the cracklins were not fresh. Both are very close to each other so its worth a visit to both.

I do not like Dons advertising on billboard and on the resturant they are "THE BEST STOP" for boudin. I think is is a direct attempt to mislead those not familiar with the REAL Best Stop. But then,Best Stop had a billboard on top of LIPSTICKS so go figure:)

I never noticed that... Sounds like they are taking a jab at their competition.. Dons is much nicer than the Best Stop and easier for tourist etc to find since its right there. But I have been going to Best Stop forever so I never even notice signs. That said. Dons does put out a very good quality product. They do have some of the best boudin around so while their sign is arguable its not entirly misleading.

I tried Best Stop boudin once and found it very bland, not impressed. I like Don's boudin better, but cracklin and jerkey is good at both places.

In my asinine opinion, Earl's Grocery in Lafayette, on Verrot School Rd., is the best boudin around. Nice heat (pepper) to it and a hint of Jack Miller's BBQ sauce.

Whoa... I would say go back and try it again just to make sure. I have never had bland boudin there ever.. In fact I know alot of people that wont get it from there because its too spicy. There is a very big chance that you got a screwed up batch.

It makes it even worse considering the two owners are related.

Maybe. I'll have to try it again. I know not every batch is always the same.

However, if you go to BoudinLink.com, they even rate the spice of Best Stop as "Subtile to Mild".

Very possible that I'm simply someone who's not happy with food unless it burns my insides!!

I seem to recall also not caring for Best Stop casing, but the hottness, or lackthereof, is what registers most in my memory.

It was about two years ago that I bought a few links and as a result of that one time, stop there for beer and foods not called boudin.

Cracklin is very good.

Like 'em both, but Don's cracklins and Best Stop boudin are my usual choices. Also love the smoked chicken sausage from BS to mix with smoked venison sausage in my gumbo. Difference taste and texture, and love me some variety...

Of the two, I like the Best Stop boudin and cracklins over Don's.

I think the cracklins at Gauthreaux's in the Chevron station at the Duson Exit has better crackllins than either Best Stop or Don's.

I've never had Don's, so by default I'd have to go with Best Stop. However, Chop's in Broussard does some pretty damn good cracklins. Definately not necessary to take a trip out to Scott if your near Chops......I'd say they are at least as good as Best Stop.
