I mix Big Mike's Sweet Heat (not very sweet or hot) with Meat Mitch's Whomp sauce. Tiny bit of sweetness but overall very savory and adding the Big Mike's thins it nicely. I hate sugary gloopy sauce anywhere near my BBQ.

I do quite a bit.

I haven’t the inclination to make my own yet. I find some with a great base then add some things that take it to my preference.

You can add vinegar to cut the sweet. Also I have some Carolina style BBQ sauce because it has that tangy flavor. I’m not a fan of the sweet sauces either.
