FDB, need some help.

Got a buddy and his fiancé coming in town tomorrow and want to do dinner and drinks with them in Uptown/Carrolton area. Needs to be casual because my gf and I will both be coming straight from work. I was thinking Jacques-Imo's, Dick&Jennys, or Atchafalaya.... Certainly looking for more recommendations. Reservations for four ( I know that eliminates Jacques Imo's and D&J's) would be nice. Drinks before and after so a good bar & atmosphere would be nice. Blah blah blah you get the point!

TL;DR:
uptown/Carrolton
Casual enough for gf to be in scrubs
Reservations a plus
$20-30/person
Contemporary creole/local flavor

Atchafalaya out of those. By a long shot.

Haven't been there for anything but brunch.. I know

Certainly would enjoy excuse to go for dinner. Is it casual enough? Their brunch has been fantastic every time we've been.

D&J's doesn't do rezzies?

They have a new menu that sounds very good. I would give them a call.

Can't your gf bring a change of clothes?

Somewhere you need reservations but can wear scrubs is weird to me

Upperline should fit into that category

ETA: Never mind, not in scrubs

I'll throw Apolline in the mix.

Scrubs aren't great to see in a dining room. FYI.

Will absolutely do this if we have to. Not a problem and I agree with you now that you say it, it does seem odd

While that sounds like a great night to me, I think they want slightly fancier than that.

Excluding Jacque-imo's, which is a shithole and doesn't belong on that list.

It also sounds like they want Creole-ish food.

Madigan's? Really? I hardly ever see anyone in that place.

well it's Friday afternoon, they don't have reservations yet, sounds like they're limited on dress code and there's a huge Saints home game this weekend plus 20,000 people in town for a hematology conference. don't think they're just gonna walk into Gautreau's at 7p and get a table.

OP, give La Petite Grocery a call. it's similar in price and quality of food to Atchafalaya and I think everyone would enjoy either one.

OP, just did some legwork for you.

Atchafalaya has a 630 rez open right now
Apolline has a 630 and a 745
Dante's has a 645 and a 730
Mat & Naddie's has open rezzies across the board
Ye Olde College Inn has a 630 and a 730

Speaking of, my wife called over a month ago for tomorrow night and all she could get was 9pm.

I'm excited...never been to Gautreau's yet.

I would just go to publiq house. Drink a 40 and eat some popcorn. See where the night takes you from there.
