We have an appointment in nola on poydras this afternoon. I am not sure what I feel like eating since we have just finished all the holiday rich foods. Anybody want to suggest their favorites?

Copper Vine on Poydras is solid.
Tapas, Flatbreads, but also main dishes like steak and seafood if you're more hungry.
Good cocktail bar and wine list. Nice decor.

New place called Nola Caye is pretty solid. Really nice build out, good prices, large portions, great service. Food probably won’t blow you away, but it isn’t bad.

It's a bit tight in the main dining area / ambiance is wine bar but trendy/hip. Depending on your group size you'll definitely need a reservation. Can be on the loud side but that's not a bad thing.
Outside seating is nice and I think they have heaters on the patio.
If you are looking to stay in the general CBD area there's also Domenica (Pizza / Italian), Meril (all foods), or MayPop. Willa Jean is good too but I would check their menu since it's a bit nontraditional.

We are going to be there early and parked in the garage next to Luke so I am thinking Luke happy hour may win. I can make reservations on open table.

The Luke Happy Hour is solid w/ half-off booze and if your group plans on eating raw oysters (I think they are like 75 cents each). Fried oysters @ Happy Hour at are also a decent deal too but not as good of a discount.
The Luke entrees are overpriced IMO, I typically get the oysters as appetizers and split an entree there, but to each his/her own.
Enjoy

I looked at the menu and thought the same- split an entree. We often do that not neccesarily due to price but due to the fact that who can eat a whole entree after apps.

Luke is the very definition of MEH to me. It is absolutely nothing special AT ALL.
The only thing worth going for is the oyster happy hour.

Yup I was trying to be diplomatic and positive, but I agree. Back in the John Besh heyday, the menu was a bit more robust (and cheaper) and catered less to the tourist crowd.
I still think you can have a good experience if you stick the oysters and drinks and skip blowing a lot of money on the expensive (and mediocre) entrees.
Luke can be one of those places where you ending spending $50+ per person and you leave thinking you didn't get your moneys worth, which isn't a great feeling. I think the out of towners like it tho - locals definitely not as much.

The Mrs enjoys the Brussel sprout appetizer at Luke. I go for the burger.

We only go there for happy hour. Oysters, wine, and split a burger.
Someone mentioned Palm and Pine. If you get a chance, either tonight or some other time, it is definitely worth a shot. It's wonderful.
