If I do not have a pressure cooker, are they any alternative ways to do this step?

I'm assuming I can just cook down the meat in my magnalite until tender.

I just want to clarify to ensure I don't miss something important

You could try that. As I said, I have always used a pressure cooker. Really the purpose is to make the meat tender so if your magnalite works for you, I would say to go for it.
