You'd stay in Metry and not even visit the best places in NOLA because they don't get hype or instagram well

How about a list of the best pizza in NOLA from you?

You have derailed this thread nicely
I was mocking the idea of TulaneLSU po boy tour turned toof pizza tour. I’m sure toof is devastated and appreciates you stepping in

Friend, Here is my first mention of Il Supremo, back in August in response to toof’s Il Supremo photo. I have mentioned it several times since. And each time I return I am even more impressed! I have tried every pizza they serve and cannot say enough positive about their plain and buratta. LINK I think it was toof who introduced most of us to Il Supremo and for that we should all be grateful. Yours, TulaneLSU
TulaneLSU,
I’ve always enjoyed your write-ups and have followed your pizza recommendations closely, even planning some of my own trips to NYC and NOLA around them. That said, something about your recent mentions of Il Supremo has me a bit puzzled.
When I checked the link you provided, it didn’t contain a review or any mention of having actually eaten there back in August - just that you had heard about it and wanted to try it.Now, after Portnoy’s leaked 8+ rating of Forgettable Pizza and Ill Supremo, those two jumped to the top of your rankings, but without the kind of detailed write-up or backstory you typically provide in the months since those local joints opened up.
Given your history of forming purported relationships with famed pizzeria owners across the country, it also seems a little unusual that there’s no connection with you and Mother with the folks behind Il Supremo(as you stated in one of your posts), especially if you’ve visited frequently since August. The place is only open four days a week, limited hours, and was pretty under the radar until recently, so I would have expected to see more of the personal touch you usually bring to these reviews.
I don’t doubt Il Supremo serves great pizza - I plan on trying it myself- but this whole hurried release suddenly hailing Il Suprmeo as one of the best pizzerias in the entire US during Portnoy rating release comes across as very suspect.

Had Supremo last night to complete the final leg on the NOLA pizza trail. Good stuff. Top 4-5 are all pretty close to me
Per capita we may have some of the best pie in the US

I will hit Saint soon, after the crazyness.
Unfortunately for me Il has been hit and no online orders possible.
Good for them. I hope they figure out how to scale and keep the quality up.

They are a smart outfit, it will be interesting to see where they take it. I’m sure they’ll scale it up eventually like they did Curbside. Though the space they have now is cool

No. TLSU did by inserting his diatribe about his favorite Nola pizzerias. These threads were about Dave’s visits. Not his. He literally reposted his scores from his thread into this one.

toof is a big boy and has taken enough push back from me as well.

People been ranking food on this board before anyone heard of Portnoy. Also he bases everything on cheese pizza. Who gets pain pizza?
Toppings are where is at. At least judge on pepperoni.

You make food and eating seem so scandalous

I love that you think the New Orleans scene is the epicenter of Italian Cuisine in America.
First, its a city of 350k people. NY Metro and suburbs is 30, 40 million people. So there are lots of Mezzaluna we get the nightly food. We don't get to Il Molino and Angelinas every night. You have tons of tourists with cash coming in that create and sustain some excellent restaurants. But by sheer numbers, between NY, CT, NJ, LA and Chicago, you're not making a dent.
Next, the pizza scene. You have good pizza I'm sure. But many people rate the top 100 pizzas in the US, and New Orleans is notably absent. I saw Crescent pizza as like #98 on 1. Theres a list put out by Tulane and LSU, right here in TigerDroppings . They only had one LA pizza ranked #100. "100. Frank’s Pizza (Shreveport, LA) 7.10 Louisiana’s best pizza. I would much rather eat a pie here than Bianco in Phoenix."

No offense dude, but theres only one person in the U.S. with this opinion and that makes it a homer's opinion.

That’s by a poster, named TulaneLSU, not by Tulane and LSU. And he’s the one you are disagreeing with.
What’s going on here? Confuse.

Finally made it to Forbidden and St. Pizza today. I ordered the same two whole pies that Portnoy ordered on his visit. I thought both were good, but honestly, neither one blew me away. HOWEVER - while I was at St. Pizza waiting on my whole pie, I tried a slice of their tomato pie. That single slice was the best slice I've ever had in New Orleans. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered another slice. The flavors were so bold and vibrant and it was just plain awesome. I'll definitely return there for that.
Il Supremo was closed (it was lunchtime) but I'm going back down in July and plan to try it.

The tomato pie looks interesting. I usually like a lot of toppings.
Like I like pizza like this... (Mexican pizza, Oscar's , Isla Mujeres, Mexico)
but i do want to try the purely plain slice. I so think the new York style crust is the best.
I had a TulaneLSU moment. Where i found the best slice of pizza at a whole foods. But every time i returned the texture wasnt the same. I still remeber him saying they had the best burger at wf then only had it one time.
I've had Il Supremo and think it's the best in the city. But haven't tried St yet.
