Have one that’s been in the fridge a week or so. Was gonna wait til I pulled the bugs, then put it in a potato sack and throw it in to boil and soak a few.
Any of you done this? How long did you boil it? Thanks

Never done this but I would think you'd need to at least quarter the cabbage to get it to cook evenly enough to soak up the seasoning or you could wind up with cooked outer parts and still pretty bland interior if going whole.

I did a cauliflower once. Put it in when we cut the fire.
It was really good.

How dare you cook food other than crawfish in seasoned water! A travesty!
I've done it, the outer leaves will fall off. Cabbage takes a little bit longer than the soak in my experience.

Nope but made smothered cabbage with the leftover sausage corn garlic and potatos.
It was good. Very good.

I did it once. I put the whole head in after I pulled the crawfish. It was a miserable failure. Like gumbo said, I should have at least halved it, probably quartered it. It was very undercooked. Another poster said it they put cauliflower in their boil. I’ve done that too, and it was probably the best “non-traditional” ingredient I’ve put in my boil. Very good. I enjoy throwing random shite in the pot after I pull the crawfish out, just to see if anything turns out decent.
I know I’ll probably get downvoted to hell for this
but once I stabbed a bunch of holes into a can of hormel tamales and threw it in the water for 30 minutes or so while everyone was eating crawfish. It was above average.
