Going to brunch at commanders Saturday. Will I be good in slacks and a button down? A sports coat in August heat isn't really my cup of tea

I sweat like a morbidly obease person so I don't really care if I look like a bumpkin

Touché... I don't want to look like the straight up LP bumpkin that I am, but I don't mind looking a little bumpkin

Then you'll be fine in pants (not 'nice' jeans ) and a button down shirt.

While, personally, I'd wear a summer sports coat, you certainly won't be the only person there without one. Frankly, most men likely won't have one.

Enjoy you trip to the 'big citeee'.

Commanders dress code is less strict at lunch.
No jacket required.
Nice pants and even a nice polo are OK.
but I would wear a button down shirt.

From the Commander's Website

Business Attire
Jackets are preferred for gentlemen
Collared shirts and closed-toe shoes required for gentlemen
No shorts, flip-flops, t-shirts, sweat shirts or sweat pants
Jeans are discouraged; ripped jeans are not allowed
