I think I may try my hand it at Super Bowl Sunday.
I'm in. Maybe a little ricotta to in the dumpling. Something I read from John Besh once.

I add color ( parsley, redd bell pepper and green onion) as well as cayenne in the dumpling dough...they are kicked up...damn good.

Well, I haven't gone that far...haha...but I don't care to eat a dish that looks like a winter sky. My C&D kick arse and look the part.

Good call. Maybe I'll skip the cheese, on a count of wanting to be able and still fit into my skinny jeans.

I'm gonna start a "post a picture of yourself" FDB thread soon. I want to know who are the pretenders 'round here. I imagine a lof the Country Boy Can Survive muthafrickas are pretenders who spend their days working the cash register at the local Verizon outlet and eating the new microwavable Old El Paso Heat & Serve Fiesta Rice.

First round of burgers are on me.

I cooked chicken and dumplings last night. They sank and when they were done they floated.
Tasted great but the dumplings were a little too thin for me. It was my first time making it so it wasn't all bad. Still tasted great.

I ate there last week on the way back from Monroe. Good lord that's a good burger. I haven't had one of those in ten years.
My wife makes her grandmothers East Texas recipe and I knock it back like I'm going to the electric chair. When she is ready to drop her dumplings she gets me to swirl the gravy so the don't stick together.
That's my contribution to chicken and dumplings.

Shortening, buttermilk, salt and pepper and flour. Make dough, roll out on floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick, and cut with knife or cutter to 1 inch by 2 inch pieces or thereabouts. Dust dumplings with flour, and add to simmering chicken stock a handful at a time and stir after each drop to make sure they don't stick together or grab the bottom of the pot. Cook for about 10 minutes on a simmer. Done.

I'm up for that!
I'm going to be disappointed though when Lester Earl is not an old black rastafarian.
