Chamber vacuum sealer

VacMaster has a new home model chamber vac that’s not too much more than some of the better standard vacuum sealers out there. I can’t say enough good things about chamber vacs, we use ours all the time and it’s light years better than the FoodSaver we used to have.

My food saver had knuckle dents in it from me punching it so many times.
Got a polyscience chamber vac and couldn't be happier.

That looks like an okay chamber. Vacmaster is a great brand.
I bought the vp220 least year, when it was on sale, and still paid $800. And while it's expensive, it's the coolest fricking thing ever. No regrets at all, like with countless kitchen gadgets.
Here are margaritas I premade and vacuum sealed during the pandemic.
I mostly use it to make individual portion boil-in-bag meals. I'll make a giant pot of gumbo or curry, seal individual portions and freeze them. Just toss them in a pot of water, make some rice, and you can be eating dinner in 15 minutes.
It's so powerful, after the air is gone, it looks like the water is boiling. But it's not boiling. The vacuum is so strong, it's causing rapid evaporation that looks identical to boiling water. It's crazy to see.
Only reason I found this thread, is because I searched to see if anyone has ever made a topic about chamber sealers. I was surprised to see this thread was made only days ago.
As for the new vp200, it seems like a solid deal. But seeing that it's only 25 pounds, I wonder how long it'll last. Mine is like 80 lbs, and they have a similar sized chamber. Durability would be my only concern. Though I'm curious how powerful the motor is vs the older models. I'd be shocked if mine has any problems for a couple decades.

Thing is, the bags used in chamber sealers are significantly cheaper then textured vacuum steel bags, even zip locs. So over the next decade, I'll probably break even with the cost. It's definitely worth finding space in your kitchen for one.

Recently purchased an Avid Armor A100 vacuum sealer. It’s almost all metal, very heavy duty, has a powerful pump, and will do pretty much everything I am needing it for. I did look at chamber vacs, and was going to pull the trigger on an Avid Armor one, but I think it really got down to counter space for me, and that’s a premium for me. I wanted to dabble in a little sous vide, but really just wanted to increase the life of stuff I have in the freezer.
The one big positive I think chamber vacs have besides squeezing a little more air out perhaps is in long term storage like Mylar bags without having to Jerry rig it to vac seal. They are nice though, and I may yet break down and get one still, but counter space thing was a pretty difficult argument for me to overcome, and justify it to myself. With the vac seal I purchased I have a place for it in the pantry when not in use. The chamber vac would have been a permanent resident on my counter.
