Anyone have the scoop on this place ? Looks like it's going to be a nice size space.

Passed by it yesterday (Sunday), there was a decent sized work crew there, looked like they were installing fixtures and other cosmetic stuff, and painting. Sign is on the building, easily looked like they were only a few weeks from opening.

Scaling up would be great and hopefully it works out. Running out of food was a problem Rob had at Smokehouse. That, and Twitter (and he seems to be off Twitter for now, we'll see for how long...).

Anyone think we are on the verge of having too many BBQ places in Nola now? I love BBQ joints but it seems like I hear about a new one opening each month. Not sure if they can all survive

Does anyone know of an opening date? You would think if they were close they would announce a date to let people know and build hype.

I live 3 blocks away on S.Rampart. I was walking my dog in front of the restaurant and asked if they had an opening date set. He said they're waiting on one more permit but that it would be announced very soon.

Looks like there's still some work to do on the outside, but the inside looks legit.

Can't wait to destroy burnt ends.

Wasnt a fan of their BBQ offerings, namely the brisket. Pork and sausage was ok. Baked beans werent good, brussel sprouts and grilled cabbage came out cold and were inedible in that state

The mac and cheese and cornbread were excellent, i must say. But $50 check for two to eat mediocre BBQ, meh I'll go elsewhere

Chef Rob makes some of the best BBQ in the south. Will be interesting to see if he can still deliver that same high quality product at a larger volume.

Had a few friends say it was better than Blue Oak, which I enjoy. Not many places around here even putting out passable BBQ, much less good BBQ.

Man, according to OT you live in the middle of the hood!

I'm joking a bit, I know alot about and have invested in that area. There has been a ton of revitalization and new investment, especially on Oretha Castle Haley. In fact if this BBQ restaurant succeeds you will have three of the best new restaurants in the City within a few blocks of each other in Central City with Primitivo and Toups South.

Primitivo about to shutter
Toups replacing a failed restaurant

But yeah, the area is booming.

Ha, I hear ya. For as scary as it looks like on map due to the surrounding areas, our corner is usually very quiet except for the occasional second line that'll pass by on the weekends. Only excitement was when cops knocked on the door with First 48 camera crew.

We moved in 3 years ago a little after Casa Borrega opened, it was sketchier back then but now most of our neighbors are white college age kids from NY.

Cafe Reconcile always does well during lunch, Borrega has live music twice a week and is usually packed. Haven't made it to Primitivo yet, but I've heard it is excellent. Not sure about the guy who said it's "about to shutter"

Looking forward to what CC BBQ will bring. It's definitely the most ambitious restaurant opening along the OCH corridor so far
