I am going with my family for Christmas and was curious if there were any must gets on the menu.
I know the mile high pie is the classic dessert but any other apps or entrees that stood out for those that have been?

Very jealous.
All three fish dishes are outstanding, as is the filet. I'm not sure if the Crab Remick is on the menu right now, but you need to get it if it is.

I have been there a few times times. It's very disappointing.

Interesting, the meat seemed like the better draw. Do you remember what the Crab Remick entailed?

It’s essentially an au gratin crab meat. Really big pieces of sweet crab meat in there.

I’ll take it. Found some pictures on Yelp of the dish. Looks like they often have interesting specials.

The squash/vegetable app was highly recommended and it was the best thing we had that night.

I can't speak for the restaurant, but the roof top bar is one of the coolest places I've been to in the city.

Now that the craziness of Christmas has settled, I wanted to offer a thought out review.
Atmosphere | 4/5
The hotel and restaurant have been beautifully restored and is reminiscent of the old atmosphere per those in the group that had been 30 years ago. Long curtains and soft carpet do a great job at reducing the noise as well as providing a comforting atmosphere without feeling too casual. The jacket requirement for men is a nice touch and goes a long way to ensuring all guests appear dressed for the occasion.
Service | 3.5/5
Going in I read reviews saying the service was slow so I was prepared. The reviews were true. Although it was nice not to be rushed while eating, our drink orders and food orders took way longer than expected. There is nothing worse than sitting at a table with nothing but water for 25 minutes.
However, all of the food and drinks were served at the same time with an army of waitstaff (a la Commander’s) which the table very much appreciated. Those that ordered the Pampano in a bag had the bag delicately cut open in front of them. The same was true for those that ordered a gumbo (the server poured the gumbo into the bowl on top of a bed of duck meat) All drink and food orders were correct which while expected is still tough when serving for 12 on a busy night.
From start to finish the meal took three hours.
Food | 4/5
The food is priced quite high but the quality warranted it.
For appetizers, we had the smoked oysters and duck gumbo, butternut squash salad, short rib ravioli, and shrimp curry bisque. None of them particularly stood out but everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Note on the ravioli, it was more like a dumpling. I was expecting pillow pieces of pasta stuffed with short rib but instead the consistency of the pasta resembled a dumpling.
As another user mentioned above, all fish dishes were perfect. The pompano was prepared perfectly and the blue crab sauce that accompanied it was incredibly rich and delicious. The crispy drum was paired with a citrus beurre blanc sauce. While the sauce was delicious, the dish could have used more. Panned veal was incredible.
Obviously, the mile high pie did not disappoint. We split 2 for our table of 12.
In summary, the overall dining experience went very well and the entire party enjoyed their time. I won’t go back any time soon given the high price point and endless other options in the city but I wouldn’t opposed to a return trip in a year or so.

Very nice and helpful review. Thanks so much for that. So many folks don't come back with results after seeking recommendations.
