Gonna make a quick chili thursday night. I usually make my own but won't have time. I'm a huge fan of all the Cajun Power products but haven't had their chili starter, only Tabasco's. Which one is better?

I have tried and liked Tabasco, but why not get both and mix them?

Tabasco tried to buy the chili recipe from CP, he wouldn’t sell, Tabasco tried to spectrum analyze it and couldn’t, too many ingredients. So they came out with their own. CP is better in my opinion.

First hand knowledge of the guys at Cajun Power, live down the road, went to school with them, Carroll Thomas came out with his chili in the early 80’s, did his first advertising photo shoot at my parents home.

I'll defer then to you, because I don't really know. On their website I found out the Cajun Power company was 29 years old. But the The Tabasco chili mix is at least 25 years old too, I think. I'm in NOLA and have never seen the Cajun Power chili mix on the shelf.

Check Rouses, I’m often in NOLA, wouldn’t mind dropping you a jar or two

CO chili is al I use now. And if you’re in a hurry the shrimp or chicken. Stew is good. And the spaghetti is the bomb.

Love the CP products. Probably biased because I’m from Vermillion Parish but I was super excited when we got Rouses in Gulf Shores with CP products.

I've been using BUDDY'S CAJUN CHILE MIX for several years. Rouses use to sell it but the only way I know to get is through Cajun Grocer.

Dorignacs carries it. It's on the 1st isle facing the veggies towards the back near the onions.

They had Tabasco brand right next to it. Bought the Tabasco 7 spice and I thought it lacked flavor tbh.

I've been making chili since I was 16 and i still don't know what a "chili starter" is. What part of the chili making process does this "starter" replace?

Basically everything but browning the meat and adding beans if you want.

So in essence, you're saving yourself from cutting onions, peppers and making chili powder?

Is one of these, Tabasco or Cajun Power, better than say, Two Alarm or Carol Shelby's or Mexene?

What's in the Tabasco or Cajun Power that's not in the others? If all you have to do is brown the meat, how does it replace the addition of onions and bell peppers?

CP and Tabasco are jarred mixes. It is the chili base with the spices, tomatoes, vegetables all in one.

Think of buying a can of sloppy joe mix.
