I know that some have mentioned this place here in the past so I just wanted to report that it's no longer in existence, but now in its place is Pepper Jack's. I'm checking out the menu right now and it's mostly Mexican fare. They say they've only been open for about a week.

Let me know how it is. I walked by it this week but decided not to go in (couldnt resist Frank's pizza next door).

It reminded me a lot of Cabos though...which is surprising considering Cabos went out of business.

You know that place is good because it's where the cops eat.

Cabo sucked dick...I can't imagine a renamed Cabo being any better.

I think you're being a bit easy on them. In just one meal I had horrible service, an overcooked piece of Mahi, and the sorriest excuse for a bloody mary in the history of mankind. It literally was tomato juice and cheap vodka with the only garnish being a straw.

ETA: Cabo - not Pepper Jacks.

The allure of Cabo disappeared years ago when they did away with the humidor. There was something quite pleasurable about sipping on an adult beverage while enjoying a fine cigar in a comfy chair on that second level.

I thought for a second that you were talking about Cabo in Clearlake. It's mostly a bar, but they serve some pretty solid food.

I've heard from multiple people that Pepper Jacks is worse than Cabo in both food and service.

I lived next to Cabo for 3 years and ate there once. I'm really surprised it stayed open as long as it did.

Is that the one behind Classic Cafe ? That place has been 3 or 4 different things in the 10 years I've lived there.

Yup. That's the one. They have been open for about two years now. Apparently they are doing pretty well, so I'm guessing they will be there for a while. They do a steak night on Thursday's and their burgers are solid. I haven't had much of their food, but I have talked to other people that have liked their other stuff.

It's definitely a good place to spend an afternoon with a beer.

Good to know. Always up for someplace on the water with decent food. Sam's Boat is ok but we don't go that often. I like Boondoggles' but it is on the opposite side of the road.

The bloody mary's and frozen screwdrivers at Classic Cafe are pretty damn good on a lazy Saturday/Sunday morning.

They have a large balcony overlooking the water upstairs and completely redid the downstairs into a good bar to be outside but out of the sun.
