I have. It’s a king cake. It’s good. It’s not the second coming of Jesus.

You've never had a Manny's king cake have you? It's ok to admit it if you haven't. Not many on here have. Try it and then you'll know what the wait is for. Trust me.

I’ve had them. I don’t love king cakes period. They’re okay. I usually put my slice in the oven with melted butter. I wouldn’t stand in line for one anywhere.

It’s the best thing to ever happen until the food network finds it and it becomes overrated tourist trash, those the life of New Orleans food establishments

Agree with you hungryone! I am not a fan of Randazzo’s king cakes. Way too sweet. Also, when did king cakes become an over priced sweet cinnamon role?

Skip the hype and get a Haydel's

Seriously thought they were lacking in quality last year. Maybe they were just off.

Agreed - that place is a hidden gem. I love the “sweet tails” fried in the sweet potato batter.

I had a few pieces of “bum” Haydels last year too. One was not sufficiently proofed (dense, not remotely fluffy), another was just....dry.

My office usually goes thru 3-4 a week during the season, and we try to cover every bakery in town. Last year’s favorites were Tartine, Dong Phuong, Hi-Do and Rouses.

My favorite of all time is from Cajun Pecan House (Houma, Cut Off). The pastry part isn’t so special, but the cinnamon pecan filling is crazy loaded w good fresh pecans.

My parents live just up the bayou from them. We have consumed many a king cake/pie from there. They are incredible.

Good enough to warrant waiting in line.

It's way too popular and mainstream for you.

like dozens of other bakeries around town

I'd like the dozen names of places that have the quality of Manny Randazzo's.

Have a buddy who used to live right next door to the one in Houma. He used to tell me great things about it, but I’ve never been.
