Bringing crawfish to North Alabama

So family asked me last second if I could bring crawfish to them, but the problem is I don't have the equipment to cook a sack up there so it's going to have to be boiled now.
Normally I'd transport it live, but is there a smart way to do it cooked? I figure it'd turn out like mush if I threw it into an ice chest while it's warm.

If you have a way of transporting the cooked crawfish, why can't you just transport the equipment as well?

the place I'm going to doesn't allow open flame on their premises. So I'd have to cook it indoors and it was a pita last time.

Maybe buy some from place that boils then refrigerates?

Is there not a park near by? This makes no sense. Don't over complicate it. FWIW, I almost rather cold boiled crawfish.

How many pounds do you need and when do you need to transport them?
Asking because LA Crawfish Co ships them boiled. Free shipping if you spend $100, I think. Of course, the crawfish are a little pricier than if you buy them locally or boil yourself, but the prices are not bad.

Its honestly not much, just a sack so probably 30 or so pounds.
Packing an ice chest into the car isn't a problem, packing a burner and pot becomes a problem.
Could I just cook it, ice it down, throw it in an ice chest, and then drive 7 hours and be okay?

I think they will be shite, to be honest.
I would do everything in my power to boil them somewhere offsite up there and then transport them 5-10 minutes.
If you can't you don't really have a choice. Put them in ice chests and see what happens.

That would be about $165 shipped.
Boil them and let them cool. Then, ice them down. They should be fine for the drive if iced well. If you have sides like corn, potatoes, sausage, boil those, cool, put in a foil pan, cover and ice. You can probably throw that stuff in a moderate oven for a little while to warm them if you want.

I think they'll be okay. I eat cold crawfish leftover from a boil and they're fine, but they haven't been sitting in ice...just the fridge. I think I'd boil the day before, cool, put in foil pans in the fridge overnight so they're already cold and then put them in the ice chest with ice under and over the pans so the ice doesn't melt all over them and wash off some of the seasoning. I've never had to transport them cold, though. I just grab them from the fridge.

might just try half a sack, cool, ice, and drive.
i wish i could just boil off-site honestly, but by the time I get there it'd be late (8-9PM at earliest) and I don't think there's any place within 15 minutes I could do it.

That's a good idea. I'd buy them. That little amount of crawfish wouldn't be worth boiling them myself.

Can't imagine that anyone wants cold crawfish.
