More expensive bottles can last close to a year for me as I always drink the high dollar stuff neat, over rock. I have quite a few, varied bottles and I have not noticed any significant change in taste after opening. Any bottles used for cocktails last 3 to 4 months.

I find minor changes occur once air is introduced to the bottle, but those changes are positive. It helps bring forth some subtle flavors that were not there at first opening. I've seen videos though where people do experiments to prove this is not true and does not happen, so it could all be psychosomatic.

It never goes bad, but once it hits the halfway point of the bottle the flavor may start to deteriorate over time. I use the argon spray to keep wine fresher longer on my low volume bottles to help preserve their flavor just in case this really does happen.

LOL......snob alert. I opened a $300 bottle two weekends ago and we drank in about two hours. Just drink the bourbon.

I’ve got a few bottles that have been open for 4 or 5 years that I only take a pour or 2 a year from. Saw an article the other day that bourbon only lasts 6 months to 2 years after open. So I was wondering what the bourbon drinkers here thoughts were.

I have some single malts like that, that I only drink on occasion. Never noticed any degradation in quality.

I have a bottle of Jack Daniel’s I bought at the distillery in 1996. Never been opened. I’ve always wondered if it has gone to shite. It is stored in a box out of direct light in my closet.

I have a bottle of Wild Turkey 8 year 101 from 1986 that I plan to drink in 2026 when I turn 40.

Damn funny you should mention this….I have exactly the same bottle. I have a couple of drinks out of that bottle every time LSU wins a national championship in football!
