Went to Wright St as well (early 80's) then transferred out of state. Still have connections in Dayton and some family there. I sure miss Cassanos and Marions Pizza.

Best wishes to you relative to your health issues. You seem to have a much better attitude than I would likely have.

I agree to have a look at Kartchner's. I couldn't pull up their shipping info on the site, but you can look at the products and call them. I've always had good luck with the folks who work there. They are very accommodating.

I don't know about getting a sack of crawfish this time of year. There are other options like frozen tails from which you could make etouffee or some other crawfish dish. Places like Kartchner's make their own etouffee and sell it frozen. I haven't had it, but I've had some other things from there which have been good. They have smoked and regular boudin, boudin balls, crawfish boudin, crawfish balls and all manner of other items. So does a place like Bergeron's. You can look around at websites to see who has what that meets your needs. Good luck.

Cassasos isn't even close to what it was in the 80's. I sometimes wonder how they are still in business. Many stores have closed over the years. Marions is still a huge hit in this area! It's still the only place I know that accepts cash only! It's never appealed to me much to me though . Have you ever heard of Giovanni's in Fairborn? I've eaten pizza in probably 14 different states and 4 different countries and nobody even comes close to making a better pizza than Giovanni's! I've been in the Dayton area (Fairborn, Beavercreek, Kettering) for the better part of 41 years now. Texas to Louisiana to Alaska to Ohio all before I turned 5. Left a few times for a stint in northern Michigan which is beautiful, and a couple years in Milwaukee to get my masters at Marquette. Louisiana is still my home away from home tho. Well, I better stop here. I got a lot of complaints for posting too long of a read. Thanks for replying!

Thank you for your feedback and for your best wishes regarding my health! Yes, I know crawfish isn't in season now, and I've had my concerns about that as well. The vast majority of people up hear think it's absolutely disgusting to eat crawfish. My hope was to just educate a few of them on what they're missing! I once had a group of people over for dinner many years ago. I had crawfish tails, already peeled and some dipping sauce. I didn't tell them it was crawfish at first, and I can't remember whst I did them it was was. Everyone went nuts over them, until I told them! At that point, most were just shocked at first, but were very happy to discover some new good eats! However, two of the women gagged, ran for a bathroom and yacked! Never had them over for dinner again!!

If you get frozen tails, you should know that they are typically parboiled, though I've used them in a cold dip before. They are also not really seasoned, so they need some help in the flavor dept.
