Have to make a trip west from BR down US 190 and I've heard people talk about boudin and cracklin at some store along the route, maybe in Livonia or Krotz Springs? Or points between?

Somebody give a suggestions where to stop for a link and a $3 bag.

Stop at Billy's mini-mart in Krotz Springs and get a few boudin balls.

If you haven't tried Bergeron's smoked boudin in Lobdell/Port Allen, stop there. Kartchner's in Krotz Springs is on the left just after the bridge coming from BR. Love theirs and their boudin balls. Good jerky and other good stuff similar to Bergeron's. Oh and Bergeron's smoked chicken wings are awesome.

Haven't had Bourque's in a while, but you can try theirs in Port Barre.

Karchner's Grocery, just over the bridge in Krotz Springs. Billy's may have them beat (slightly) on craklins, but their smoked boudin is better. Seafood balls are pretty good too.

And I assume you mean west and are not going from BR to Slidell.

I didn't even catch that. Are there boudin sources between BR and Slidell?

If I stopped at Bourque's I would not leave without a loaf of Jalapeno Cheese Bread.

I'm probably the only person in the universe who doesn't think that bread is all that. I think it's okay. I have to warm it and slather it with butter to enjoy it, though. Otherwise, I find it dry and just okay. I made a loaf of sausage jalapeno bread someone here posted a long time ago and it beat Bourque's for me.

I haven't been there in about a year, though. I need to go back. I like those mushroom stuffed with sausage and wrapped in bacon. I cook them in cast iron.

If you happen to be driving through Elton, the boudin at Spot's Corner is very good.

In Eunice, definitely give Eunice Superette Slaughterhouse or T-Boy's a try.

Laughable.

OP, get some cold boudin from the back meat counter.... Stick it n the oven at home till the skin crisps. Bourques is, if not the best, in top couple of Louisiana's boudin. Certainly on 190.

I will admit tho, boudin balls from Billys are good..... But in head to head cook offs - Bourques is best
