Local store had bags of green peanuts and I figured id give it a shot.
Was just going to use crab boil, but no idea how much to use? Any thoughts?
I have a 8.5lb bag of peanuts.

Probably use a small bag of Louisiana

Ya, the recipes online are all over the place when it comes to seasoning.

How much you use is pretty much a personal thing is what I find. I like them hot and spicy so I use more than some people would.
I never measure anything when I cook unless doing some baking and for seasoning the water for peanuts, I just pour until the color seems right.
I use Louisiana Seafood Boil Seasoning in the 4 lb. bag.
For that amount of peanuts I'd think I'd use at least 1/3 of that bag and taste my water to see if it fits my taste.

I’d start with a half box of salt and a half bottle of liquid crab boil. I sometimes use some Old Bay seasoning, too, but that’s optional.
Make sure your peanuts are really washed well. Boil from 1.5-2 hours, testing as you go. Once you turn them off, let them soak to your desired taste.

I use a cup of salt and a half or whole cup of preseason crab boil like Zatarains. I often chop onions and garlic and throw in there. It’s pretty cool because they sort of remind me of sucking the head of a crawfish. Hey those things freeze well too. I vacuum seal what I don’t eat and they taste just like you just boiled them when you warm them back up.
One more thing. I didn’t eat a bunch of fresh boiled peanuts growing up in Ruston. However, they eat the mess out of them in the Mobile area. I’ve found fresh green ones cook much faster than the ones they have let naturally dry out.

Alright, well I was impatient.
Put in 4 cups of powder louisiana and then added maybe 1/2 cup of salt.
First time doing this, grocery store got me by putting the boil and bags right by the front.
ETA: Figured I would start boiling for an hour and then test, soak for maybe another hour or I guess when they taste right.

Alternate plan (if you live here in Birmingham): run down to the Alabama Peanut Company and copy whatever flavors that Jamie has cooked up.
Today's special, appropriate for the holiday: Dreamland. Yep, that's the real-deal sauce in there (source: I live behind Dreamland).
Other fave flavors include Wickle's Pickles and Jalapeno Lime. No relation to APCO, I just like their peanuts. Washed down with an Abita or three.

What local store had these.
I want to try to do a small batch that mimics the canned cajun boiled nuts. Love that stuff.

I really want to do a batch of Cajun dill boiled peanuts. Anyone ever tried that?

My MIL’s recipe that I asked her for:
Get some peanuts
Cover with water
Add your seasoning and salt
Just keep tasting it
I laughed at her but the truth is she was kind of right.
