I'm planning on cooking some shrimp on the stove tomorrow. Should I boil them or steam them? Some seasonings ideas?

Boil for cajun seasoning, steam for old bay or similar seasonings.

Boil using the same seasoning you'd use if boiling crabs or crawfish. Just don't boil shrimp near as long as they cook real fast.

As far as anything else in the pot, I usually do some corn on the cob, new potatoes, mushrooms and use cut up onion, celery, lemons and bay leaves in the water to kick it up a notch for the seasoning end.

I'm a fan of both, but it depends on the size of the shrimp. Small, steam them...larger, boil them.

Sometimes with steamed I just peel them all at one time, since its so easy, then season them up before eating.

Most common mistake is people over cook them. Shrimp cook exceptionally fast. Most important thing you can do is put ice in to drop the water below cooking temp.

Put the shrimp in and bring back to a boil.
Cut the fire
Add ice
Soak till they reach desired spice level

While I will boil 99% of the time just because I’m coonassian, steaming actually produces better results. Same with blue crabs, even though I admit I never steam blue crabs at home.

We’re some tête dur SOB’s sometimes.

The flavor of boiled shrimp can't be beaten, but I think the texture of quickly steamed shrimp is superior, but you're going to miss out on the flavor that soaking gets.

I think I slightly prefer steamed shrimp with a good cocktail sauce or some drawn butter, but I sure as hell will never turn down a few pounds of heavily seasoned boiled shrimp.
