It’s that time of the year again to treat my dad to his birthday steak dinner. It’s solely his decision, but has granted me the final say. I and the Mrs. have eaten at Vacca in Metairie and enjoyed it, but I’ve never eaten at Stab’s in Baton Rouge. For those that have dined at either or both any feedback, especially on Stab’s is greatly appreciated. Trying to decide on which to take him to. These were his final 2 to decide between.

I want to like Stab's every time I go...and it always falls short. It's just "okay" to me. I had some gift cards so me and my wife went earlier this summer and we had appetizers, salads, entrees and dessert, plus a bottle of wine. Service was pretty good, and the food was decent. But had I paid full price, I'd have felt like it wasn't nearly good enough for the price tag.

Vacca was great when we went. They did a great job making it feel cozy and welcoming. The steak was cooked to perfection without much fat. We shared the grilled vidalia onions as a side (never saw that offered at any other steakhouse). Service was great, too. Waitress wasn't pushy and allowed the Mrs and I time to communicate without constantly returning to the table, but also not waiting overly long to check-in. Highly recommend.

I've never been to Vacca, but I would go to Ruffino's or R.C. before Stabs.

Same, never been to Vacca but won’t go to Stabs unless someone’s paying for it.

I gave the old man plenty of options, but these 2 are the one's he zeroed in on. Some of you are miserable lol. He's 73 and we've been to plenty of the better steakhouses, but he wants to try a new place (to him) and damnit, if the old man wants a particular place, at his age, then I'm going to make it happen. I just want the memories with him.

I agree and was just giving my opinion on steak houses. I lost my dad to cancer a few weeks ago. I'd do anything to eat just one more steak with him no matter where it was. Hope y'all have a great night.

I’m sorry to hear that brother! I don’t take it for granted and I hope you and your dad were able to share some great memories beforehand. I cherish our time moreso the older I get, especially with being a dad myself now.
