Blue Giant or Dian Xin

This will be for dinner with some out of town guest. The following night we’re doing a big dinner at August so I thought something casual would be a good change of pace. Are these places lively/fun at dinner or should I go with something like Clancy’s......could also do something like Paladar. We probably won’t do much after dinner so I want some place that has good drinks and a lively atmosphere. Thanks for the help!

Those two are pretty boring but nothing is really lively right now with 50% capacity anyway. And they aren’t known for their bar programs

Man couldn’t disagree more. Blue giant is far from, boring. I was there Saturday night and it was packed and the cocktails were on point.

I’ve been to both in the past month and enjoyed both. I’d say atmosphere and bar at Blue Giant has the edge, but Dian Xin has some unique dishes. The soup noodles were fantastic. Either would be good. If you wanted drinks before or after, you have Barrel Proof near BG and Cane and Table near DX.
Paladar Is great, but they are very strict with virus protocols. Masks on to interact with server, servers standing 6 feet away. It made communication difficult.
If weather is good, I’d consider Margie’s or the Columns. Margie’s food can’t be beat if your guests are slightly adventurous. And Stolzfus has done a good job reimagining the menu at the Columns. Mostly small plates, but well done.

We went to N7 about 3 weeks ago, and it was fantastic. Very relaxed atmosphere, good drinks, excellent wine selection. They were enforcing pandemic standards, but it was not overbearing.

If you want to stick with Asian then Blue Giant it great. Marjies is also casual and different.

No place is lively and fun indoors during this pandemic.
That being said, if you want this cuisine, Dian Xin is run by Asians and Blue Giant is run by fat hipsters. You choose.
