Will be highly surprised if the road diet doesn’t improve business in the long term.
I'm equally hopeful for the effect the Road Diet will have on Government Street. Just awful timing for restaurants and bars over there to have COVID and awful construction going on concurrently.

I had a 7pm reservation Friday night for Rocca. Turning onto Government at Jefferson the line at Government Taco was wrapped around the building, Superior, Brewbachers, Byzonz packed, Popeyes and Canes drive through lines long, Soji packed even LaCarretta was full.
With the exception of filling in the medians and a bit of stripping they are pretty much done in that area. Flows well and will help the retail and service business all along there. Try to buy a piece of real estate around there and see what it is going for.
My father bought a house on Steele Blvd and one on St Tammany in the mid 50’s first one for $2700.00 second for $4100.00. I still own one. It’s worth a bit more than that now.
Bistro Byronz building was Armstrong Veterinary Clinic before them.

Wow. That's wild and awesome. Steele is one of my favorite streets to ride down and look at the homes. So beautiful.
My aunt and uncle have a house on Orleander and I know it wasn't cheap. And, while beautiful, it isn't even one of the massive ones over there. There really are some nice homes in that area.
Its tempting to buy there when we are in the market in the next year or so, but the upkeep on an old home sounds like a headache.

Has the uptick in crime had any adverse effects on the BR housing market?

Not sure. My extent of real estate knowledge only goes as far as sorting by "most expensive" and then wishing I was rich
I do feel like there are a ton of houses for sale right now. A lot of the same ones I pass each day have had signs in their yards for ages, it seems like.

Not in mid city. Prices are still nuts due to cheap financing. I just bought in old goodwood a few months ago. Steele area homes were waaaaaaay out of my price range.

Full disclosure I just moved from walking distance from all these places. So unfortunately am not going to witness. If they would have finished on time I would of had two years to enjoy it. lol.
