Any favoriterecipes for biscuits and white sausage gravy. Other than biscuits in a can I’ve never tried cooking either but looking to give it a whirl. TIA.

I fry off a few pieces of breakfast sausage patties like Jimmy Dean's, use the grease and a bit of butter to make a blonde roux with AP flour, add some milk to thin it out a bit, then add the chopped up sausage back to the roux mix, add a bit of salt and black pepper to taste.

As for the biscuits, I don't mind canned if it's only me and the wife, but do prefer made from scratch biscuits if it's worth the trouble.

That’s about how I do it. Step it up with a can of evaporated milk and a pinch of garlic. As for best biscuits you don’t make yourself, get Mary B’s Buttermilk from your grocer’s freezer.

Frozen biscuits are slightly better than canned if you want to save time.

Sausage gravy:
1 16oz sausage roll
4oz butter
6oz flour
2qts milk
1T black pepper
Salt as needed

Brown the sausage, add the butter & melt. Stir in flour & cook 3-5 minutes. Slowly stir in milk to prevent lumps. Add pepper and adjust salt. Simmer 2-4 minutes.

This makes a 1/2 gallon of gravy. Quantities can be adjusted to suit your needs.

Thanks guys. I’m going to try these on Monday, iron out the kinks, and hopefully put it out for Christmas morning.

Come back after the holidays and we can talk about making some homemade chicken fried steak to eat with that style gravy.

I brown sausage and onion , garlic, and fine diced tomatoes

Then I add about half a cup of flower and cook down till it’s gummy and sticky

Then I add a half cup of hot black coffee

Then milk to desired thickness
Then add pepper to taste

Chef John’s recipe on Food Wishes is the one I use and it turns out incredible. I don’t follow it exactly, but it’s a great start and add your own touch.
