I’ve got one night to eat and grab some beers. Suggestions? Good People, Trim Tab, ??? I’m sure there is a new and upcoming brewery that may be better than these two.

Trim Tab has the best atmosphere. Avondale can be fun and has the best outdoor space. Check their calendar and see if they have entertainment.

TrimTab had my favorite beers but if you don’t like sours it might not be your thing.

Back Forty had a wider variety and good pizza. Also a unique backdrop with Sloss being right there.

Ghost Train had one really good porter but my memories of it are hazy

ETA: here’s trimtab’s current beer list. Forget what I said about the sours

Trim Tab has some of the best IPAs I've ever had. At the beginning of the pandemic I would drive up from Prattville and buy $300 worth of IPAs to last me a while. Then I moved to Texas where the beer isn't worth a shite.

I’ve only a few times but they only had a couple DIPAs on tap. This was in August/September so that could be the reason. I loved the sours though.

Forgot about Back Forty. The crowd there seems to be younger. Every time I go, I feel like I’m drinking with my kids. The food there is pretty good.

Long story, but I can’t drink sours. I do love the 205 Pale Ale at Trim Tab.

Various food trucks.

Back Forty is the only one that I can remember that has a true in-building restaurant, although most all will have a food truck at times.

Best to check Facebook for the night you are in town. And while you are at it, hit several breweries. Plenty in and along the Jones Valley, aka the ~4 miles from downtown to Crestwood.

Trim Tab or Ghost Train

Birmingham District Brewing if you are there on a bust night and the first two are packed.

The trim tab 205 is excellent.

Cahaba also has a nice set up.

Food trucks. Check their social media the night you’ll be there and don’t miss Uncle G’s pizza if he’ll be there. Outstanding Detroit style pizza.

Ferus, Back 40, and Monday Night are the ones with their own kitchen. The rest have places nearby or food trucks.

Ferus

My favorite beers, but I'm an IPA guy. Love their setup if there is a game worth watching. Really enjoy watching Monday Night Football there.

I haven’t been to Ferus’s new space in Avondale yet. Their food in Trussville is good. I’ve heard the Avondale one has a different menu. Their beer is just okay to me.

Back 40’s food is good, but their beer sucks.

Exactly. Great venue and good food, but shitty beer.

Back Forty, Monday Night, and Cahaba have the best “beer plus food” set ups in town in my opinion. I haven’t tried the new cahaba food truck yet, but I’ve heard it’s good.

The tacos at Monday Night are always good to me.

I’d throw Good People in there. Tortuga’s pizza right next door and the disco fries from the food truck there are both pretty solid.

And depending on what truck is at Trim Tab. I’m telling y’all, you need to go there when Uncle G’s is there. Saw he will be there tonight.

Good options given so far

My favorite is good people and back forty and I’ll go to the grocery brewpub some as well although it’s not a brewery but they have a lot of different local beers
