Headed that way from Louisiana today. Any spots I should check for good craft beers or bourbon? I know about Acquistaspaces (sp?) - Thinking more on the Mississippi side of the line.

Ehhh...

Not what you would call a craft beer or liquor scene. I've been in BR a good while, but we go back regularly. I have seen two hearted on a couple taps, but you are mostly gonna get the run of the mill taps with a couple lazy mag beers. Haven't been to the Bacchus joints on that end, but they tend to carry decent stuff at the pass location with regards to bourbon sometimes.

May want to try ocean springs. Prolly have better luck over there.

There's a discount smoke shop in Waveland that has a decent beer selection. Can't remember the name, but it's on 90 and they have a sign in front talking about their beer selection. I've bought a lot of Tallgrass and Yazoo beers there.
The place isn't far from that Claiborne Hill grocery at 90 and 603. They have a decent beer selection-- and they fill growlers!

For liquor and wine, stock up on whatever you want there. Taxes in Mississippi are terrible compared to La and the selections will generally suck pretty much everywhere.

I'd stay away from bay tobacco. They have about as good a selection as there is, but I think a good bit of their craft selection are shelf turds. I stopped there last week and grabbed a couple of oskar Blues beers and a couple of bells brewery beers as well. All 4 6 pks were at a minimum of 11 months old. I know there may be an argument as to how long it last, but I'm not paying $10 a 6pk for something that has been on the shelf for a year. That being said it may not be them, but the distributor.

I went back a couple days later and looked again. Most of the dates on the beers were in b/w 10-12 months on the beers. They cater to the "smoker"... But do give a bag of ice if you buy beer.

May want to hit rouses in diamond head.... If your looking for a store and not a bar.

Check out L&M Package Store in Gulfport. They have the best prices in town and a huge selection of wines and bourbons. Friendly folks too.
