I have a BGE but several friends who have Traegers swear by them. There is a part of me that feels like the Traeger is almost too easy and takes some of the fun/skill out of slow cooking. But the results speak for themselves. Should I bite the bullet and get a Traeger?

Pellet grills are outdoor ovens that smoke. The question is do you want almost effortless cooking or want to have some involvement with the cooking process? From personal experience being down this road, I have been through the pellet grill, stick burner and ceramic cooker phases and always wind up back at my weber kettle and Weber Smoky Mountain cookers. I saw no gratifying aspect to the other cookers and sold them all.

There is literally nothing you can’t cook on a ceramic.

I’ve had a Traeger for a few years now and love it. What’s fun for me is tossing on a piece of meat and knowing the temperature will stay in range throughout the cook and I can do other stuff while the meat smokes.

Recteq is apparently a sponsor of the Food board so everyone says go with them, but I’ve never had an issue with my Traeger.

Both. My Traeger is super easy but if I have time and want a true smoke flavor my BGE is my go to.

Yeah I got A KJ and it’s a great
Hobby. Now that I have A baby and almost no time I kinda Wish I had something I could Just press a button on and have smoked food.

Those are the pros and cons. Ceramic is fun. It’s a hobby as well as cooking.
