Need a solid, reliable, user friendly, easy to use, not too involved vacuum sealer just for freezing meats and what not for family home meals. No huge projects or anything.

What ya'll got? TIA

“You should’ve seen the toast! I couldn’t get it through the door!”
I’m in. Curious to see what people say. Also curious about the “reusable” vacuum seal bags that you seal with a hand pump

You'll get a lot of good advice here. Many will recommend a chamber sealer, because they are the tits.

I've gone with a basic foodsaver model that I bought on a sale on Amazon. Cost me about $40. I've used it for at least 5 years, so I'd say it's fairly economical. The catch is that you have to freeze most things that you want to vacuum seal due to liquid ruining the dealing process.

I trimmed 4 beef tenderloins tonight and cut the butt ends into filets and separated the trimmings. Put them on a baking sheet and put in the deep freezer. I'll vacuum seal tomorrow. I do this with most things that I freeze.

It works well if you know what you're dealing with and don't mind spending the extra time to prep. If you want to spend more money and save a bit of time, get a chamber sealer.

Over the years I've had 2 different models of the FoodSaver brand. They were great initially but both broke eventually. I found the process to be a bit of chore especially because I didn't keep mine out on the counter.
I just recently bought a small hand held one with the special ziploc bags, and I LOVE it!! I bought the Vesta brand on Amazon for only $25 instead of the more expensive FoodSaver brand, and it's great.

We really need a sticky thread for vacuum sealers and knives.

I pre-freeze from time to time, but I typically will wrap in butcher's paper then vac seal and it's been ok. I bought a Meuller Vac sealer in 2018 that just went out on me. I vac seal a BUNCH between deer, beef, and fish. I ordered the new model of the Meuller
