Ruby's on Rue Louis Xiv was good. Went there last week and got the chicken and sausage gumbo and fried veal cutlet.

Everyone has listed most of the places that I was going to, but I also like plate lunches at Noah's Cafe on Ambassador and Dwight's. That étouffée at Dwight's is something serious!

I love the good at Hot Food Express, but have any of you guys ever gotten plate lunches at Steven's on Pierce St.? I prefer my shrimp and chicken tenders from there over Hot Food Express.

There's a place called Kajun Korner on Bendel that has a pretty good seafood platter(fried shrimp, catfish & oysters) for $9.95, you can get fries or shrimp fried rice. It's a steal

Gary's is good but they don't give you enough to fill up your five year old.

Is this on the side of Edie's?

Never heard of Gary's. Might have to try this out.

i discovered hot food express only a couple months ago, and i work about a mile from it.

have tried about 6-8 different things on their menu, and have yet to be disappointed. great food for a little price.

For Lafayette plate lunch lovers, I highly recommend a short film called, "Raised on Rice and Gravy." Conni Castille and Allison Bohl were grad students at UL Laffy when they made the documentary. Excellent.
