Del Porto is horrendously overpriced for average food IMO. I'll never go there again. It's like they try to lure you into a false sense of class and quality with their tiny drink glasses and linen table cloths. Then they bring the food out and it's overlooked, dry and bland.

I have heard this before about Del Porto, guess its one of those hit or miss places. The two times I went it was very good but you are not alone in your assessment.

The one in Terra Bella?

That's the one. Glad to hear the food quality is pretty much equal. I may end up going to that location rather than the one on 59.

I asked the same question about a month ago.

Juniper was the one that most recommended.

Agree with 4lsu2
Sal an Judy and Gallaghers
Sal & Judy has cajun food also. The nickel sauce with shrimp and crabmeat can be put over a steak and is unbelievable...It is in LaCombe though, about 20 min east of Mandy.

This was my thought until I went to Kazoku on 59. Beats Megumi IMO. I never thought I would say that but its true. Kazoku is the only place I go to now

Then I need to try this place because me and the office love Megumi! Never even heard of Kazoku.

Has anyone been to Pardo's yet in Covington? Any reviews?

(It's across the street from Target where Anthony's Forino used to be)

Price isn't much of a concern as long as I can get by with jeans. Casual dining is cool, just looking for a good meal.

Bonus points for a decent beer selection.

Barley Oak, best beer selection

Fazzio's is consistently really good and reasonably priced.

Terrible beer selection but possibly the best mixed drinks in the area.

I tried Pardo's about 2 weeks ago. Owner is from New York and they are trying to do something a little upscale. Had the pizza which was fantastic and the deconstructed sloppy joe...which needed some work. It looks to be a new type of restaurant on the northshore. The atmosphere is a little more upscale than usual but with a relaxed feel. I'll go back and see how it develops.

Ate Morton's in Madisonville this past weekend and thought it was very good. Maybe a little pricey but it is on the water.

Used to be the main place for seafood back when I was a kid. IMO, it has kinda fallen off over the years. I'll still go there for some fried shrimp though. Friends right down the street has a better atmosphere and a notch above Mortons in food.

Friends and good food should never be mentioned in the same sentence ever again. They have drastically fallen off the side of the river wall over the past year or so. Their service is god awful at best, prices are higher than balls on a giraffe, and food is mediocore to say the least. I don't know what has happened at Friends, but I won't be back. They charge $4.25 for a long neck beer and even manage to frick the transaction of opening the correct beer and handing it to you, somehow. They had a 2 pound crawfish appetizer platter in Mid May for $12. Corn and potatotes were extra. The crawfish were .

Yea, that seems like fine dining. Menu looks awesome.

Maybe I should man up and wear some slacks. I'm classy guy. I just wanna dress like a slob in the summer.

Juniper is awesome. If you want to go as a slob, you can go with jeans and be okay.

As for the post above about Friends being overrated, overpriced and terrible service, I couldnt agree more. If this place was located anywhere else but on the water, it would be out of business.

Those aren't the Northshore's best, but good places to eat where jeans are acceptable.

I would hit up Cafe Lynn. I think it's better than Juniper and you can wear jeans considering its in an old burger king.
