I guess Baton Rouge is screwed. You people only go to places you've heard of. So what'll it be tonight: Outback or Chili's?

So you are going to say a place that is unknown to anyone outside the area is on par with one of the top steakhouses in the WORLD? You dont have to eat at every location to know that something like that is highly improbable.

Yea I eat at outback and Chilis all the time.. Guess up in NE LA everyone just eats Johnnys all the time..

Try the Village sometime. I'm telling you, it'll be one of the best, if not the best, steaks you will ever have.

I'm not so obtuse to think that just because a restaurant is famous that their porterhouse steak is the end-all-be-all steak of the world. I know that there are good steaks and bad steaks, but among the top 1% I don't think the differences are so objective. I've never been to Luger's because I don't go to fricking Brooklyn (just kidding) but I have been to the Village and it is amazing. You've already formed your opinion so this is a waste of type.

That is why I am now done with this thread. A GREAT steak in Shreveport is just to out of the box for them.

A great Steak in shreveport is easy to understand I would bet there is a GREAT place to get a steak in just about every city over 50K people. You are the one that compared said steak to one of the most decorated steakhouses in the world! That would be like me saying Louisiana Lagniappe is just as good as Commander's Palace. LL is a very good place but they dont belong in the same category as a world renown restaurant. All steaks are not created equal.

in Lafayette- Alesi's Pizza Pie - it was the first pizza place opened in Lafayette - my Dad used to tell us about how they went in there as college kids and asked what kind of pie they had - like pecan, apple - they didn't even know what pizza was.
Anyway its got a thin crust, that is just perfect, sauce is sweet and good, good cheese with the perfect amount of cheese and toppings. man, I'm hungry for some right now.

Now that I have read this thread and know that I have had zero chance of EVER obtaining a decent meal, growing up in Monroe and now living in Alexandria.

Two little pizza places that have opened in Cenla turn out a decent pizza. Angelinos in Alexandria (a katrina uproot, brought the shop to Alex) and Nikos in Pineville....a pretty tasty pizza.

PS, Being only five hours from MSY and with the advent of planes and all, there are a few restaurants in N La that can turn out a fairly decent seafood dish. Granted the density of fine dining is not that great, but I would put Bistro on the Bayou and Red River Grill up against just about anyone with a fresh fish dish.
