I want one to use where I can monitor the internal temp of the meat and the temp of the grill when I’m smoking something. I just bought a Blaze grill and not sure how great the external temp reader works on it.

Maverick ET-733

I have the previous version of this model for about 10 years. It works well.

There might be better models out there recently, but this was the favorite of BBQers a few years ago.

ETA: Also, I ruined the probes (they should't get wet) and it started giving false readings. I contacted the company and they sent me two new probes for free. Saved me over $40. They have been known for their customer service. I assume it's still top class.

If you want the best go to thermoworks and get one of their pro bbq pkgs... if not the best, but best for the money then.... The smoke mentioned above is really good. I’ve had a maverick and they are cheaply made compared to the thermoworks (Smoke) thermometers.

I use the smoke and enjoy the hell out of it. It has a remote that you can keep on you that’ll give you the temps at all times. It’s a radio frequency too, so it actually has some range to it unlike Bluetooth. The remote will vibrate if you have your hi/low temps set and it reaches either point. It’s great around the house b/c the signal will travel through the house for the most part. At least mine does.

I've been using an ET-733 for a year+. It works well and is accurate, but damn it is not easy to set/control. The controls and settings are not intuitive. Keep the instructions handy.

I only use it for the temperature and monitor it. I rarely use the temp alarms for that reason.

It's lasted a really long time, and is the only one I've ever used.

Others may be able to recommend a model with better controls, but this this is a tank. I burnt half the back of it and it still works like new.

Also as I previous mentioned, they shipped me new probes for free years after I purchased it. Their customer service is very good.
