I've heard Spicy House is great, but I haven't been there myself yet.

I just opt for the fried rice from Hot Foods Express.

Magic Wok is the only one I’ve been to in the past 6 years

Spicy House is very good, as I've eaten there 2-3 times.
Small restaurant, maybe 6-8 tables. Not an upscale white table cloth type of place. No alcohol. Not much atmosphere.
But, the food is good and fresh. Worth a try.
I'll definitely go back, as it is more of a lunch spot for me.
Try Blu Basil in the Time Plaza shopping center for a more complete restaurant experience. It's Vietnamese though, not Chinese per your OP. The menu has many more options, plus alcohol if you are wanting that.

I can't say that there's any decent (non Americanized) Chinese in Lafayette except for Spicy House, which specializes in Sichuan cuisine. It's a restaurant and menu that seems like it's straight out of some Chinatown in a major city, featuring blood curd, tripe, and pork intestines, along with familiar fare as well.
Mae Sone Noodle House will have some Chinese dishes on their menu.
More generic choices are China House One, and your Panda Express chain store.
ETA: Menu for Spicy House

I've eaten at NHI Taste of Asia and it was good, but it's fusion, with sushi. Not Chinese.

Ye's cafe in Youngsville. Hot Wok on Pinhook used to be pretty good.
