I prefer Nine Dragon Noodle House to Omi because its consistently good. I've had several bad meals at Omi

Same here. I used to hype Omi quite a bit, and bragged about it to my family. When I finally took them there, it was really bad. I've found it to be hit-and-miss; sometimes it's great, sometimes it's plain bad.

Never had a bad experience at 9DNH.

Panda House near Whole Foods is solid.

The Chinese people I work with highly recommend King Buffet by the mall.

Obviously. I can't seem to find a single place with really good sesame chicken and not many places do a good Kung Pow either.

I was told by the guy who is the chef that the real owners are currently in china, speak little english and count on him to run it. Then he went on about trouble finding good help, lost help etc. I think it is on it's 3rd owner under the Omi name.

I was told that the chef who was originally there -- the one who worked for Chinese royalty or whatever -- is no longer there, and hasn't been for a while.

The first chef to open the place was Coy from Coy's on state right there where the old louies was. He had that authentic chinese menu there too. Not sure if he is the guy you are talking about or not. I hope they can get it together. Not many places survive with absent owners and poor management.

I want to try the duck ramen but i think that is one dish that needs to be ate there instead of takeout

The Mongolian Beef is not on the menu but its a take out special with fried rice. Its excellent. If there is a Chinese dish not on the menu you like they will make it for you if you ask.

Most of the food came in pots

Hot and sour soup
Shrimp lo mein'
Combo fried rice
Pot chicken
Omi pork
black pepper beef
Pickled napa fish (best dish)
Garlic sauce eggplant
Ordered the bok choy but they forgot it

I like 9 Dragon also. I always get lo mein and the two arent even comparable. 9 dragon lo mein is the crap you get at cheap chinese takeout. Omi is legit lo mein with plenty of veggies

I dont know how 9 dragon makes it though. There is never any people in there. I know they dont have much overhead but that place cant make money
