I think that a lot of breweries do a good job of making a solid lineup, but the fact is that in this day and age of craft brewing an Amber or Pale Ale is considered boring. Samuel Adam's makes a really good pilsner and lager in their lineup. Saint Arnold makes a really good kolsch. Sierra Nevada makes a really good hefeweizen and pale ale.

I would toss Rogue Amber and Chocolate in there as great everyday attainable beers.
I know anything I order from Brooklyn, Anchor, Sierra Nevada, Alesmith, DFH, or the like will be good. I stay away from things like Magic Hat.

I just grew to dislike that culture a lot. Now in my travels to DLD in Indiana, I met some cool people who were very gracious in sharing their beers.
I remember the first time we went it was miserable. We were very unprepared. We got shite faced the night before in chicago. If it wasn't for someone mistakenly calling my cell @ 7am we'd have missed DLD. Also you can't really stay in Munster, there is one hotel and it's full, always. It's like a 60 minute drive to Munster from Chicago. We got there and saw what was probably 300 people in line already. It was first come first serve mind you. We didn't bring chairs like others did. I remember standing there and seeing all these characters and thinking WTF am I doing here. I drove to Munster, Indiana for some beer. One group even arrived in a limo. What a bunch of assholes. By the time we got our beers, I would say there was another 2000-3000 people in line. We got the beer and promptly left back to Chicago.
We went back again the next year prepared with tailgate chairs. DLD was once again a giant clusterfrick and poorly run at that. People would get there early for BA meet ups and share beer. Problem is most of them got wasted and were puking all over. Once again, we got our beer and left. I think after that year, I realized how dumb and not worth it this whole deal was. Driving 14 hours from BR to Chicago. It was a cool trip once, never again.

No kidding. The people who don't like bourbon notes in their beer are coming out of the woodwork here.
I don't know who you people are anymore. Lots of whining about > 8% beers being good.
I don't see too many of you drinking session beers in the daily FBD threads.

Not that those beers are not good, just that they have completely taken over the craft beer movement at the moment. It seems the only way a beer can be considered good anymore is if it is a special release of some kind. I don't see many people drinking regular Stone Ruination anymore, instead it has to be some kind of anniversary or special release Ruination.
