I'm about to be in Baytown for 2 weeks. Any suggestions for food, beer...anything?

Yeesh! Ok, this one might be a challenge without driving into Houston.

My first though is drive to Kemah. Only take you 15 minutes or so. Outriggers, Bakkus (HIGHLY recommend. Great patio!), T-Bone Toms, or Hubcap Grill are your best options, IMO. And there is also every Landry's restaurant property there, but none I would advise.

In Baytown itself, I think El Rey has a location there. Which is a decent Houston Taqueria. 888 is a good Chinese restaurant at the 2 locations I've eaten at in League City and Friendswood. It's in Baytown as well.

That's about all I've got without going into Houston.

How bad is the drive going into Houston from Baytown in the evenings?

Like the Cuban El Rey on Wash Ave? News to me...there is a Salvadoran place with the same name though.

Cuban Cafe on Decker is pretty good.

Otherwise, Baytown is full of chains, but you're about 30-45 minutes away from the city. I'd make the drive a few times at least for a decent dinner or two if your schedule allows.

OP-what facility are you at for two weeks? Chevron Phillips, Targa, Exxon....?

Galveston isn't far down the road either.

And you're correct. Not the same El Rey. I take that one back.

Going into town from that direction isn't usually a big deal outside of AM rush hour. Maybe 30-35 minutes to get to Minute Maid Park/Downtown on 59. I agree with OSA, I would make that drive at least 2-3 times over your 2 weeks.

Salmon. Go to Nobi's Public House. Get the Combo Stirfry and drink good beer. Thank me later. I spent a month in Baytown one week in January. Also made it into Haymerchant and Petrol on two different evenings. Not too bad once you get over that first Westbound bridge. Waze is your friend.

Good food Great beer

There's a bar and grill called O'Neals in Baytown. It's not much to look at. But they have some of the best smoked wings I've ever had. Fantastic. I think they do a wing special on Wednesdays.

The drive into Houston isn't that bad. Baytown is a pretty rough suburb, as others mentioned, Kemah isn't that far and there are some good establishments down that way. In my opinion though, by the time you work your way down there you could be pretty close to the heights or downtown, if you headed into Houston.
