Kingbob gave a real solid list.
I would add Pinetta's (fairly cheap Italian/German)
DiGiulio Brothers (mid priced Italian)
Anthony's Italian Deli (cheap sandwiches and pasta)
Bay Leaf (nice Indian buffet)
Cafe Dang (cheap Vietnamese)
Omi (authentic Chinese)
Albasha (cheap Greek and Lebanese)
Zorba's (mid priced Greek)

Middle: Chelsea's, City Pork 2, the Chimes, Coyote Blues

What in the hell are you ordering at Chelseas to make you think this goes in the Middle category? It is super cheap, especially considering the food is actually cooked there and not from frozen. The chicken fried chicken meal is under $10! The only way to spend a lot of money there is if you drink a lot, and that would be true at Applebees or any cheap place.

For the record, I highly recommend Chelseas. It is just not anywhere close to being anything other than super cheap which is a GOOD thing for how awesome the food is.

I am going to add:

Curry N' Kabab - very cheap, has a lunch and dinner buffet. Best Indian in town. The buffet is small but everything on it is much better than what you can get at other Indian restaurants in town. Their Naan is freaking insanely good.

He's being sarcastic because someone (maybe actually it was him) claims they don't make it.

My friend works there and has never said such a thing, so

Jasmines on the Bayou
Urbanspoon LINK
www.jasminesonthebayou.com

OR get your arse to Bergeron’s in Port Allen (across the river from Baton Rouge.) Yelp LINK And don't to forget to bring your gun in for the 10% discount! (Make sure you get there before 1:00 pm. Those bastards like to clean up and get out early. Technically they're open, but they're cleaning up all around you as you eat. That's my only complaint with them.)

Nah... Chimes is a good enough call, but Walk-On's blows.

For cheaper options try Chelsea's, Parrains, Sammy's.

My favorites are:

Louisiana Lagniappe( local flavor, seafood, and great steaks) Ginos( Italian), Omi (Chinese) , Sushi Yama (sushi) Mestizo( Mexican)

Lots of recommendations for Sammys. Its not bad but its mostly bar food and fried seafood. If you want higher end really try something like Louisiana Lagniappe, Jubans, or Ginos
